Allocation of the number of fellowships by panel

The allocation of the number of fellowships to be granted by each panel will be based, for predoctoral fellowships as well as for postdoctoral fellowships first term, on this formula: for the distribution of 50% of the total number of fellowships to be granted a general success rate will be applied (being the total number of available fellowships/the total number of fellowships applied for) and the other 50% will be granted in accordance with the distribution applied in the period 2011-2016. This distribution was as follows:

This way of distributing the fellowships partially on the basis of a general success rate and partially on the basis of a ‘historical’ spread is applied in view of a gradual transition towards the uniform system across the panels.

For the postdoctoral fellowships renewal a general success rate of 75% is already in place now. After the ranking of the fellowship applications in the panels the chairs and vice-chairs per domain decide on the distribution of the fellowships per panel. The selection by these domain panels is based on the comparison between the rankings in the panels involved.
