2017 Lindau Economy Meeting
Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings
Once every 3 years, laureates of the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences convene at Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists: undergraduates, PhD students, and post-doc researchers from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines.
2017: 6th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences
The 6th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences will be held from 22 to 26 August 2017. About 400 highly-talented young scientists will be the audience for lectures, for panel discussions and for small-size discussion sessions with the invited Nobel laureates. These young participants will be recruited worldwide among (1) undergraduate students, (2) master and doctoral students and (3) young postdoctoral scientists in the field of Economic Sciences and closely related disciplines.
As of 2015 the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) has become an academic partner of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and can nominate up to 4 candidates for each Lindau meeting. The nominees will be subject to an additional selection process by the Lindau Council’s Reviews Panel for final selection to the 2017 meeting.
For nominees who will be admitted to the Meeting, FWO pays the travel costs and a lump sum of 2.500 €, covering (among other) the stay at Lindau and a share in the total cost of participation; the remainder of the cost will be paid for by the Lindau foundation itself.
Candidates should send in an application, in English, consisting of a full CV (incl. publication list), a letter of motivation (max. 1 A4) and a letter of recommendation (max. 1 A4) by their supervisor or scientific advisor. Deadline for the applications is December 1, 2016. As academic partner of Lindau, FWO will select up to 4 nominees who will then submit an official application to Lindau itself, where a Review Panel appointed by the Lindau Council will make the final selection.
