Titel project: Micro-Level Socialisation and the Role of the Institutional Environment in Civic Engagement
Uit het jury-rapport:
Benny Geys has an excellent scientific background. His track record in research and publications is unique: he has been engaged in high quality research in outstanding research institutions both in the field of economics and political science.
His list of publications is impressive, covering a broad range of quite diverse topics across three disciplines and published in internationally renowned top-journals. Having been involved in collaborative research projects in different institutions, the applicant has established extensive and sustainable links to excellent scholars.
His project is situated in the heart of social sciences. The research proposal is highly original and will considerably advance our level of knowledge and understanding. It addresses a glaring gap in the research agenda, namely the exploration of the micro-level transmission mechanisms linking civic engagement and citizens' attitudes and, furthermore, how differences in the institutional context relate to types of civic engagement.
