Titel project: Role of specific macrophage and dendritic cell subsets in pulmonary and hepatic immune responses.
Uit het juryrapport:
Dr. Guilliams has had excellent training in Belgium, then a very successful post-doctoral training in what is arguably the best laboratory in the world for the molecular engineering of mice to answer key questions in immunology. The publications from his period in Marseille are impressive and the jury accepts that more will eventually appear in press. They clearly demonstrate that he is technically capable of constructing the series of genetically engineered mice on which this project depends.
It appears that Dr. Guilliams has already demonstrated strong scientific independence, drive and leadership.
The extent of ongoing and proposed scientific collaboration is remarkable. It is notable that many of these collaborators are among the established best in the world in their fields (Malissen, Reis e Sousa, Lambrecht) as well as including younger “rising stars” (Dalod, Poulin).
The applicant is relatively young for such an extensive and ambitious project. However, he has made the case that he is capable of executing.
