The FWO is keen on promoting international collaboration as a driving force for excellence. That is why the FWO offers researchers in Flanders various opportunities for intra-European collaboration linked to Weave or the European Framework Programme.

Weave (Multilaterale Lead Agency Procedure)

Weave is a bottom-up cross-European initiative developed by European research funders – and embedded in Science Europe – to support excellent European collaborative research projects across national and regional borders.

European framework programme and scientific networks

The FWO and the Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Vlaio) have been appointed as National Contact Point (NCP) within the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union 'Horizon 2020'. The FWO, too, is involved in various European research initiatives (ERA-NET, JPI, COST).
