The FWO allocates 322,000 euros to research in ALS thanks to bequest

Today, on World ALS Day, the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) has allocated 322,000 euros to research aimed at improving the understanding and treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The money comes from a bequest left to the FWO by Mr. Van Eyck, who had explicitly requested that the money be spent on research into this neurological disease.

Laureates FWO-Excellence prizes

The Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) has today announced the five laureates of the FWO Excellence Awards. Every five years, an international jury awards a prize worth €100,000 to eminent scientists in recognition of their research careers. The prizes are also known as the ‘Flemish Nobel Prizes’. The Excellence Award in Exact Sciences has a female laureate for the first time.
