Call candidates for the Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting 2019 dedicated to Physics

Once every year, some dozens of Nobel Laureates convene at Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists: undergraduates, PhD students, and post-doc researchers from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines. The commitment of Nobel Laureates to foster the exchange among scientists has been the mainstay of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings ever since their beginnings in 1951.

For the 2019 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting to be held from 30 June to 5 July 2019, Nobel Laureates in Physics will be invited. About 600 highly-talented young scientists will be the audience for their lectures, for panel discussions and for small-size discussion sessions. These young participants will be recruited worldwide among (1) undergraduate students, (2) master

and doctoral students and (3) young postdoctoral scientists in the field of Physics and closely related disciplines.

As of 2015 the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) has become an academic partner of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and can nominate up to 4 candidates each year. The nominees will be subject to an additional selection process by the Lindau Council’s Reviews Panel for final selection to the 2019 meeting.

For nominees who will be admitted to the Meeting, FWO pays the travel costs and a lump sum of 2.500 €, covering (among other) the stay at Lindau and a share in the total cost of participation; the remainder of the cost will be paid for by the Lindau foundation itself.

Candidates should submit their application (in English) to; your file should consist of:

  • a full CV (incl. publication list)
  • a letter of motivation
  • a letter of recommendation by your supervisor or scientific advisor.

Deadline for the application is Monday October 1, 2018. As academic partner of Lindau, FWO will select up to 4 nominees who will then submit an official application to Lindau itself, where a Review Panel appointed by the Lindau Council will make the final selection.
