The UK officially leaves the EU on 31 January 2020, followed by a transition period until the end of 2020. This period can in principle be extended once by one or two years. Very little will change during this period. Researchers will be able to travel in and out of the UK without difficulty. All EU rules and laws will continue to apply to the UK during this period. During this transition period, Brexit will not result in any amendments to the FWO regulations and the UK will be considered a EU country within the FWO context.
