The Fund Suzanne Duchesne supports a total of three postdoctoral research projects with 70,000 euros.
The Fund Suzanne Duchesne, which is managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, awards 70,000 euros in the form of special bench fees to three selected FWO postdoctoral researchers. This grant is awarded exclusively to young promising researchers who are carrying out cancer research and is in addition to the mandate and operating costs awarded by the FWO, thus strengthening the postdoctoral research project.
Martijn Schuijs (UGent), the best-ranked candidate in the Med4 panel, will receive an additional 30,000 euros on top of his postdoctoral research project thanks to this fund. Jonas Steenbrugge (UGent) and Kathryn Jacobs (KU Leuven) can both count on an extra grant of 20,000 euros.
Martijn Schuijs, University of Ghent, 30.000 euros for the project “The role of alternatively-activated macrophages in the development of a lung pre-metastatic niche”
Jonas Steenbrugge, University of Ghent, 20.000 euros for the project “Chitinase 3-like 1 as novel immunotherapeutic target in triple-negative breast cancer”
