Science Communication

The FWO attaches great importance to the public acceptance of science. One way to achieve this is through science communication. That is why we encourage our researchers to systematically communicate about their research to the general public.

The FWO has already launched several initiatives in the area of science communication. For example, we encourage our researchers to participate in events such as the Flemish PhD Cup, Sound of Science, Science Figured Out, Day of Science, etc.

We also organise symposia on science communication. Furthermore, our website features the blog “Researcher Stories where researchers tell about their research and their life as a researcher.

Our Instagram account @fwovlaanderen also zooms in on our researchers. Researchers can take over our account for one week, allowing them to share photos and videos with the general public. Would you like to take over our account for a week. Contact us via Communicatie@fwo.be. Read the information sheet.

Researchers who have questions about science communication can contact the communication service of the FWO or the university to which they are affiliated. The list below contains the contact details of the communication advisors within the FWO and of the science communication expertise unit of your university.
