Results SBO 2025

The Strategic Basic Research (SBO) programme focuses on innovative research which, if scientifically successful, will create prospects for economic or societal applications (e.g., a new generation of products, processes and/or services). The SBO programme breaks down into two finality parts: an economic programme part for projects with primarily an economic finality (SBO-E) and a societal programme part for projects with primarily a societal finality (SBO-M).

For this call, there was an available budget of €36,932,488 (excluding overhead). 116 SBO project proposals were submitted, including 82 with SBO-E finality and 34 with SBO-M finality. Of these, 17 (12 SBO-E and 5 SBO-M) could be awarded.
