All about support programmes
Every year, numerous Nobel Laureates convene at Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines. The commitment of Nobel Laureates to foster the exchange among scientists has been the mainstay of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings ever since their beginnings in 1951. The Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences is held every three years.
For the 8th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences, from 26 – 30 August 2025, Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences will be invited. About 400 highly-talented young economists will be the audience for their lectures, for panel discussions and for small-size discussion sessions. These young participants will be recruited worldwide among advanced graduate students and postdoctoral or early tenure-track scientists from the field of economic sciences.
As of 2015 the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) has become an academic partner of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and can nominate up to 4 candidates for the Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences. The nominees will be subject to an additional selection process by the Lindau Council’s Reviews Panel for final selection to the 2025 meeting.
For nominees who will be admitted to the Meeting, FWO pays the travel costs and a lump sum of €2.500, covering (among other things) the stay at Lindau and a share in the total cost of participation; the remainder of the cost will be paid for by the Lindau Foundation itself and by 3rd-party funding.
Candidates should send an application to interprog@fwo.be, in English, consisting of a full CV (incl. publication list), a letter of motivation and two letters of recommendation by their supervisor, scientific advisor and/or internationally renowned scientists who know the applicant well (each approximately one A4 page long). The deadline to submit an application is Monday, 21 October 2024. As academic partner of Lindau, FWO will select up to 4 nominees who will then submit an official application to the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting itself, where a Review Panel appointed by the Lindau Council will make the final selection.
