FWO – Demoucelle Parkinson Charity PhD fellowship

The Demoucelle Parkinson Charity is a non-profit organization founded in 2011. Its aims are to provide funding for the world's most promising research projects on Parkinson's disease and to raise awareness about the impact and rising incidence of this neurodegenerative disorder. The motivation of the Charity is to encourage as many people as possible to join the efforts to find a cure for Parkinson's disease.

After a successful first edition in 2023, the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity is therefore again committed to fund one PhD fellowship in fundamental research or strategic basic research in 2025 for a promising young researcher whose research topic is biomedical research on Parkinson's disease.

This ambition was laid down in a collaboration agreement between the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity and the FWO. The FWO – Demoucelle Parkinson Charity PhD fellowship, including bench fee, is financed by the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity. In addition, the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity also offers the laureate of this fellowship a free coaching trajectory (without obligation). The fellowship fits into the regular programs for PhD fellowships of the FWO, and applications are submitted and evaluated in the relevant call for proposals.

Through an agreement between the fellow and the FWO, these fellowships are subject to the FWO regulations for PhD fellowships.

Only applications submitted in the regular FWO calls for PhD fellowships fundamental research or strategic basic research focussing on biomedical research on Parkinson's disease are eligible for an FWO – Demoucelle Parkinson Charity PhD fellowship.
