Support programmes
With our financial resources we support individual researchers and research teams with personal fellowships and project funding.
All about support programmes
Important changes
The junior postdoctoral fellowship aims to support researchers who have recently obtained a doctoral degree to further specialize in their research discipline. With the help of this fellowship, a postdoctoral researcher can develop their own research line while simultaneously acquiring additional academic skills through training and mobility, among other means. In this way, the FWO aims to provide young researchers with optimal opportunities to build an independent international research career, either within an academic context or beyond.
The FWO collaborates with the Plantentuin Meise, VITO and Flanders Hydraulics for the funding of additional postdoctoral fellowships.
The Suzanne Duchesne Fund is administered by the King Baudouin Foundation and provides €83,000 for the 2026 call in the form of special bench fees for selected postdoctoral researchers in oncology (Med4 panel).
L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science is also offering the three best junior or senior female candidates from biomedical and STEM disciplines (for applications submitted in the S&T, Bio and Med panels) an additional bench fee of €20,000 to support their research careers.
You need to submit your application via the online application (addressed to a FWO expert panel). The deadline is 17 November 2025 at 5pm.
